With regret, we announce the line-of-duty death of Trooper Aaron Smith of the Indiana State Police. Trooper Smith was struck by a vehicle while deploying stop sticks during the pursuit of a stolen vehicle at approximately 8:45 Wednesday evening. The incident occurred in the Plainfield area on AmeriPlex Parkway near Interstate-70.
Trooper Smith served the citizens of Indiana for approximately five years. He is survived by his wife.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Church Greenwood Campus, 1640 West Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood, IN 46143.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial with honors will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in the Heroes of Public Safety section.
