With regret, we announce the line-of-duty death of Firefighter Lloyd Ruediger of the New Haven-Berger Fire Protection District in New Haven, Missouri. (New Haven is approximately 55 miles west of Saint Louis.)
Firefighter Ruediger made an emergency response driving an apparatus to a structure fire Sunday evening. He and members of his department cleared approximately three hours later, and Firefighter Ruediger returned home. When his daughter could not reach him the following morning, she went to his residence and found him deceased from an apparent heart attack, still wearing the same clothes he had on the night before.
Firefighter Ruediger was 84 years and had 59 years of service as a firefighter. He was widowed and had three adult children.
